|Remarks :||Arrival date in Fulay was 12 th November in 2008 as observed. Last year's departure date was 20 th April 2008.
Feeding on the berries of Salvadora persica (Toothbrush Tree).
Vocal in February-March. Generally silent when they arrive. Also observed feeding on the flowers and berries of Lysium barbarum (Garothial - local name of the bush). Otherwise feed exclusively on the ripe berries of Salvadora persica (Piloodi= Local name).
This year Nov 2008-March 2009 approximate number of Grey Hypocolius wintering in Banni has been 160 birds. They roost in flocks in the inner canopy of thorny bushes. Bushes which grow as thickets with the Tooth Brush plant are preferred for roosting. - JT
