| Remarks : | On 19th October 2008, unexpectedly, I could photograph a pair of Crested Treeswifts [nesting]. Normally the breeding period is from March to June.
I was surveying a forest area in Sidhi, Madhya Pradesh during 1974. During March we could locate a Crested Treeswift nest. In E.H.N. Lowther's book A Bird Photographer in India I had read about the peculiar behaviour of the female treeswift [where she allowed herself to be 'tickled' while sitting on the nest]. A machan was constructed. The female remained quietly incubating. I could get some close photographs. After lunch, we returned to the spot. I could also touch the female without any reaction.
During these years at least 5 nests were located but we could not get opportunity for good photographs. Luckily, I got some good pictures without a nest. Incidentally, this is the 75th year since Mr Lowther's observation of the peculiarly [tame] nature of female treeswifts.
