| Remarks : | More pictures from the fruiting ficus tree. This time access was better & many of the birds allowed closer, naked eye views.
Of the Barbets feeding in the fruiting ficus tree:
Blue-eared Barbet (Megalaima australis duvaucelii) – a few
Gold-whiskered Barbet (Megalaima chrysopogon) – at least 4
Brown Barbet (Calorhamphus fuliginosus hayii) – at least 6
Red-Throated Barbet (Megalaima mystacophanos mystacophanos) – at least 1
There were at least 6 Brown Barbets with at least 2 of them being juveniles. The juveniles were very curious of me. I could approach the base of this tree but the juveniles were not much afraid and continued feeding or peering at me at close range. - Amar |
