Banded Woodpecker
Photographer : © Amar-Singh HSS
Location :Tambun Interior, Perak, Malaysia
Date : 30 May 2009
Equipment :Nikon D90 SLR with Tamron AF Zoom 200-500mm, handheld
Alt. Common Name :Banded Red Woodpecker
Bird Family :Picidae - Wrynecks, piculets, woodpeckers & flamebacks
Bird Group :PICIFORMES
Red Data Status :Unspecified
Remarks :While watching Yellow-bellied Prinias, noticed a pair of Banded Woodpeckers high on a dead branch of a Rain Tree Enterolobium saman. One of them was busy excavating a nest, while the other was foraging. Unsure if both participated in nest development as I did not stay long (they were aware of my presence despite the distance). - Amar
