Dark-necked Tailorbird Orthotomus atrogularis atrogularis   - Juvenile with prey
Dark-necked Tailorbird
Photographer : © Amar-Singh HSS
Location :Kledang-Sayong Forest Reserve, Perak, Malaysia
Date : 16 September 2009
Equipment :Nikon D90 SLR with Tamron AF Zoom 200-500mm, handheld
Alt. Common Name :
Bird Family :Acrocephalinae - Tesias, stubtails, warblers, tailorbirds & allies
Bird Group :PASSERIFORMES
Red Data Status :Unspecified
Remarks :A family of Dark-necked Tailorbirds – 2 parents were feeding their 2 juveniles. Food that I saw fed to juveniles was spiders and caterpillars. The adult would get the food, with juveniles chasing close behind and calling out constantly. Some food (caterpillar) was branch swiped by the parent before being presented to the juvenile. Other (like the spider) was branch swiped by the juvenile itself.
Data on what food is taken is limited locally (Wells 2007). - Amar
