Forktail 22: 85-112 Assam Laughingthrush Garrulax (e.) chrysopterus, Silver-eared Laughingthrush Garrulax (e.) melanostigma, Golden-winged Laughingthrush Garrulax (e.) ngoclinhensis and Malayan Laughingthrush Garrulax (e.) peninsulae are treated as separate species leaving Chestnut-crowned Laughingthrush with the following subspecies: G. e. erythrocephalus - NW Himalaya G. e. kali - C Himalaya (W & C Nepal) G. e. nigrimentum - E Himalaya (E Nepal to N & E Assam) G. e. woodi - N & NE Myanmar, W Yunnan
