Remarks :USNM 316130, co-type of Gallicolumba menagei, a male collected by Bourns and Worcester on 10 Oct 1891 on Tawitawi, Philippines. Only one other male skin is known, also in the Smithsonian Collections. Shown here is a comparison of the underpart plumage patterns of G. menagei with three other bleeding-heart pigeons. From left to right: G. platenae (USNM 201782), G. crinigera (USNM 578517), G. menagei and G. luzonica (USNM 313841). Note the diffuse, yellow-brown breast patch and grey belly of G. menagei.

Taxonomic Notes :Monotypic species endemic to Tawi-Tawi in the Philippines.
