| Remarks : | In the early part of their second year some Christmas Island lack axillary spurs, but typically show broad black breast-tabs, angling forwards toward the centre of the breast. Note the patches of fresh buff feathers on the head, typical of all species moulting from juvenile to second-year plumage. |
