| Bird Family : | Anatini - Typical Ducks |
| Bird Group : | ANSERIFORMES |
| Red Data Status : | Least Concern |
| Remarks : | All duck are uncommon in Peninsular Malaysia, and there are only eight
reports for the Northern Shoveller since 1898, six of which in Singapore.
The Garganey is more frequently sighted but is still an uncommon visitor.
It was interesting to watch the relationship between the two birds.
The Garganey chose to tag along with the larger Shoveller and follow
it in tandem wherever it went. When the Shoveller took off, the
Garganey would also follow. - Amar & Tou
