|English synonyms:||Sulawesi Ground-Dove, Sulawesi Quail Dove, Celebes Ground Dove, Celebes Ground-Dove, Celebes Quail Dove, Celebes Quail-Dove, Yellow-breasted Quail-Dove, Yellow-breasted Quail Dove|
|Bird Family :||Columbidae - Pigeons & Doves |
|Bird Group :||COLUMBIFORMES |
|Red Data Status :||Least Concern|
|Remarks :||The bird was found in a wire snare left by some hunters. Mr Haliday was interested as it was the first one he had ever seen despite working in the forest for years, so he took a photo. He then released it, and it flew away safely into the undergrowth - he didn't think it could have been in the trap for long as it seemed healthy and it didn't seem to be cut or otherwise harmed.
The subspecies is unknown. It could well be G. t. auripectus. However, the front seems to have a greenish tinge absent in the description for this subspecies, and there was also a fair amount of green on the back of the neck (not very apparent in this photo), so it could be a different/new subspecies. Subspecies therefore undetermined for now, pending further investigation. - Eds
