| English synonyms: | Malaysian Eared-Nightjar, Malaysian Nightjar, Lesser Eared Nightjar, Lesser Eared-Nightjar |
| Bird Family : | Eurostopodidae - Eared Nightjars |
| Bird Group : | STRIGIFORMES |
| Red Data Status : | Least Concern |
| Remarks : | Identified partly on call: The call Tut, we, wooo... is quite similar to Great Eared Nightjar Eurostopodus macrotis but first note distinct and loud compared to Great Eared which has a soft, indistinct first note.
There is also no or less than a second gap between the first and second note. Although the difference between Malaysian and Great Eared note gap is not so distinct, but one can differentiate it if previously heard.
I think that would be the best that I could describe it. - MAM |
