| Remarks : | The pride of Chilika lake and its apex predator.
In Chilika, you are never far from sea-eagles and frequently hear their calls. We saw several of them, including a few instances of them swooping down to fish. Once when we were near where Chilika lake meets the Bay of Bengal (known locally as 'Sea Mouth'), we saw a sea-eagle swoop in to pick up a sea-snake!! A spectacular sight!!
It's quite a pain trying to shoot anything from a boat, and, especially with an 800mm lens! This image was made when we were still on land loading filming gear onto a boat when this pair came straight at us. I had the luxury of having the long lens steady on a tripod! - RS |
