| Remarks : | On 02/04/08 morning, chick started to hack the entrance of the nest by throwing out loose mud and slowly pieces by pieces. I observed parents did not help the chick to break the nest. When I left after 7.15pm, I did not know whether parents have helped the chick to hack the nest or not.
Next morning I saw the chick whole head and neck looking out at the nest. Male was calling in his soft note constantly whilst the female was jumping from one branch to another bowing to the chick to come out.
Chick first attempt to take its maiden flight at 8.18am did not succeed. More than half of the bird’s body was out and it quickly flies back inside the nest. The chick finally took its maiden flight at 8.22am. Parents immediately flew in to stay with their young fledgling. Movie has been captured during its maiden flight. - CK |
