| Remarks : | Over the last three weeks the Wildlife Wing of Himachal Pradesh Forest Department in collaboration with BNHS (Bombay Natural History Society), headed by Dr Balachandran,
has been collaring and ringing Migratory Birds visiting Pong Dam Lake Wildlife Sanctuary. We have already tagged 60 odd ducks/geese with neck collars and leg rings.
We have also tagged one Ruddy Shelduck with a Satellite Transmitter. More Satellite Transmitters (solar powered battery) are likely to be fixed next week on Bar-headed Geese.
This year approximately 132,000 birds of 92 species visited Pong Dam Lake Wildlife Sanctuary. - SG (20 March 2011) |
