| Remarks : | The field guides show this species as a summer visitor to North-East India. They also caveat that the ranges and taxonomy are not well understood. I have personally recorded the 'Square-tailed' race lugubris multiple times in winter (Dec-Jan) in 4 different locations across the Brahmaputra Valley. From west to east: Rani-Garbhanga RF, Nameri NP, Kaziranga NP, Digboi Oil Fields. This might suggest that the 'Square-tailed Drongo' is a resident in North-East India. Note that the species is already considered a resident east & south of the Patkai Range in Myanmar. - PB |
