| Remarks : | We have found a new population of Marshall's Iora in the South Eastern Dry zone of Sri Lanka. This site is located nearly 75 km away from Kumana, where this species was rediscovered in March 2006, 58 years after the first and only previous record from Sri Lanka. (This was
published in Siyoth - Journal of the Field Ornithology Group of Sri Lanka Vol:1, Issue: 1).
The new population was found at the border of the Lunugamwehera National Park. Both Marshall's and Common Ioras Aegithina tiphia are common here. We were able to capture one male bird in a short netting session.
Rahula Perera, Upul Wickremasinghe and Kasun Dayananda of FOGSL joined with me in this session.
