| Remarks : | This bird was found and taken into care as it was too weak to fly. Temengor Reservoir is about 100km inland from the nearest coast.
After some discussion on BirdForum the conclusion was that the bird was this species, probably a
1st/2nd calendar year immature bird, the following being the main criteria, not necessarily in order of importance:
Small size;
Dark band on the chest;
Barring on flanks, upper & lower tail coverts;
White on wings restricted to the shafts of outer primaries;
Shape of bill which has terminal tip same size as the base;
Pale nape, often with slight yellow tinge for immature birds (I noticed this
feature in the hand). - LKC |
