| Remarks : | Observed a pair today as they foraged together.
Birds in breeding plumage have an indistinct, brownish upper breast band, usually more prominent in one of the pair (presumed male). The birds today were not breeding – in this image today’s non-breeding bird is on the right and a previous image of a breeding bird is offered for comparison on the left.
Note that most books state that the neck, throat and underparts are whitish with tawny buff at sides of lower breast and flanks (see Wells 2007 & HBW).
