Nepali farmers grow a traditional aromatic rice locally called budhi jetho. In this rice species the flowers come late when daylight become less than ten hours. It is harvested from late November to the first week of December.. when a flock of Yellow-breasted Buntings comes.
After feeding on the rice, the birds continue on their migration to Thailand or Hong Kong.
So traditional aromatic rice species are helpful for migratory birds. - VT |
