| Bird Family : | Columbidae - Pigeons & Doves |
| Bird Group : | COLUMBIFORMES |
| Red Data Status : | Least Concern |
| Remarks : | This individual was with three others, feeding on the fruits of the tree Lindera pipericarpa (Lauraceae) behind the old Speedy’s rest house, at an approximate altitude of 1200 metres. Bukit Larut is the oldest hill-station in Peninsular Malaysia and is part of the Bintang Range, which runs parallel in a north-south direction to the much longer Titiwangsa (Main) Range in the east, and is within the distribution range of this species here. Fairly common resident above 970 metres above sea level, it regularly disperses over great distances to feed at low elevations. Breeding has only been recorded in montane forest. Image was originally taken on Kodachrome 200 colour transparency film and scanned into jpeg format. - AJ |
