| Remarks : | This is a photograph of Sambar Lake, western Rajasthan. It's a vast, vast plain, endless and featureless. We couldn't go in much further because it had rained the previous night and our feet started sinking in the sand as we tried to walk further into the lake bed. This picture, taken at 105mm, is heavily cropped and we estimated that we were about 6kms away from the "pink lining" visible on the horizon:
Lesser Flamingos! The line of Flamingos seemed to be endless and I held my breath as I scanned the horizon. We estimated that there were roughly 5,000 of them (and roughly 1,000 Greater Flamingos). - MB |
