| Remarks : | Six days of rains in West Bengal that caused flood in some of the parts of the state has had its effects in hills of northern West Bengal too. We were stuck within Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, heavy downpour didn't allow us to do much bird-watching. Pouring stopped on 23rd Oct. morning though there was heavy overcast and light was poor. A trip around the higher reaches of the sanctuary yielded sighting of three rufous-necked hornbills. Attached is a pix of the species. The female was in the open whereas the male could be seen on the left of the pix, hiding behind the foliage. DG |
