| Remarks : | The subspecies waterstradti is endemic to the Thai-Malay Peninsula where it is a rare and localized resident above 1500 metres above sea level in the higher mountains, exclusively within the boundaries of Malaysia. It is associated with native conifers, principally Dacrydium comosum in which it nests. The individual here was part of a group which frequented a garden at Fraser’s Hill (1350 metres) where exotic conifers, principally Pinus merkusii, were planted in fair numbers. Image was originally taken on Kodachrome 200 transparency film and scanned digitally in jpeg format. - AJ |
