| Remarks : | The presence of this fabulous bird in Tainan County is the result of a successful project run in close cooperation of government agencies with private funding, farmers, local communities and volunteers. At the end of the ‘90s fewer than 100 Pheasant-tailed Jacanas remained, as a result of habitat loss and pesticide use in agriculture. Thanks to this wetland protection project the population has increased to an estimated 600 birds. - DZ |
