| Remarks : | When we climbed up the Eastern ridge of the Bhilangana River, the Indian Blue Robins had arrived. They had completed their long journey from the Nilgiris and Sri Lanka, and reached their breeding grounds. They proclaimed their territories, perched somewhere in the heart of Rangela bushes Rosa sericea. Some sang hidden under the shade of Kharsu Oak Quercus semecarpifolia trees, more often heard than seen. Their whistles and the loud chatter that followed was the dominant song of the forest, and they sang all day with infinite vigour. A female was seen foraging in the leaf litter in a small clearing, and soon this male appeared, rocking his short tail up and down. - GA |
