| Remarks : | Subspecies endemic to Gunung Tahan, Peninsular Malaysia. This species was observed at our base campsite at ~2,000 m until the summit at 2,187 m a.s.l.
This subspecies appears to be a bit larger than the birds found at lower elevations along the Main (mountain) Range, at least to my personal observations. However, there are no references on sizes of birds on Gunung Tahan for comparisons with specimens in museums e.g. in Wells, D.R. (2007). This individual ( and others) was seen gleaning insects from the tops of elfin vegetation below the summit of Gunung Tahan in the early morning, and in this case a spider was caught, parts of the legs of which can be seen at the right side of the bill. - MC
