| Remarks : | Subadult male or subadult non-hepatic female transitioning into adult plumage.
Upperparts plain, duller than a typical male and lacks any black markings or rich rufous tones of hepatic forms. White on wing-bend obvious. Rufous throat, irregularly barred rufous below with barring more prominent in breast and flanks. Belly buff, vent white - both unbarred as in adult. Dark retrices have broad white wavy cross bars on underside with faint buff markings on upperside. All retrices moulting as white on tail tip absent on all but one which is still growing (R6?). Very fine buff tips to greater coverts and tertials visible. More pictures here:
