| A hard-core
environmentalist, trekker, explorer, wildlife photographer and writer.
He has trekked in
Arunachal Predesh, Ladakh, Kumaon, Garhwal and through the
Thar - the Indian desert.
His tireless campaign against the degradation of the Valley
of Flowers in the Garhwal Himalayas during the late nineteen seventies finally resulted
in the Valley being declared a ‘National Park’ to
preserve its unique bio-diversity.
In 2003 he received Sir Edmund Hillary’s ‘Himalayan Environment Trust Award
for valuable contribution to the cause of Himalayan environment’.
In October-November 2010 he went on the Brahmaputra River
Expedition as one of the five member 'core team' to do the first ever descent
of the world’s highest river from source-to-the-sea through
Tibet-India-Bangladesh.
He has six pictorial books to his credit. |
