Zebra Dove Geopelia striata   - Sonogram
Zebra Dove
Photographer : © Amar-Singh HSS
Location :Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia
Date : 21 May 2020
English synonyms:Peaceful Dove, Barred Dove, Barred Ground Dove, Barred Ground-Dove, Four O' Clock Dove
Bird Family :Columbidae - Pigeons & Doves
Bird Group :COLUMBIFORMES
Red Data Status :Least Concern
Remarks :I observed the male calling out loudly post mating. Wells (1999) states that the male sings as they sit side by side and describes the song in detail. This post copulation song was intermittent but extended for 3-4 minutes, with 28 notes per minute that were spaced out evenly; each lasting ~0.5 seconds. I wonder if it was a call to advertise territory post mating?

The call can be heard here: https://www.xeno-canto.org/560520
