|Taxonomic Notes :||Martens et al in 2008 showed that the population breeding in Qinghai, Gansu and Sichuan is better treated as a separate species Alpine Leaf Warbler Phylloscopus occisinensis. This treatment is followed here but no attempt has been made (so far) to identify the birds here which were photographed on their wintering grounds as to whether they should be moved to P. occisinensis or remain here.
