On a very wet late afternoon at Mayodia, Mishmi Hills, while I was dozing off in my room, Shasank Dalvi, Saurabh Sawant and a few others spotted this snipe foraging just outside. By the time I was out with my camera the fog had become denser and the drizzle stronger, preventing me from getting any better images.
The bold markings on the dark mantle, completely barred underparts and comparatively shorter bill made us all decide that it was a Wood Snipe. This is among the first images from India. - AS
