Red Data Status :Least Concern
Remarks :I saw this Loten's Sunbird male chasing a female and never allowing it to sit in a single place. The male was no different from any other male Loten's. Then it settled down on a branch, did the preening action over the maroon on the breast and lo it brought out these amazing Pectoral Tufts! on either side and started chasing the female again. The pectoral tufts are used for display in males. They are a mixture of yellow and orange feathers as seen here. - BM
Taxonomic Notes :Species endemic to the Indian Subcontinent (S India & Sri Lanka).
