Javan Myna Acridotheres javanicus   - Leucistic individual
Javan Myna
Photographer : © Colin Mitchell
Location :Mount Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Date : 5 March 2012
English synonyms:White-vented Myna, Pale-bellied Myna
Bird Family :Sturnini - Starlings & Mynas
Red Data Status :Least Concern
Remarks :This bird is probably 100% leucistic. Eye colour is dark, and this is often seen in leucistic individuals of species with naturally red or yellow irises. The greyish plumage colour (instead of bright white) in this bird is in my opinion the result of staining (dirt) and not pigment. - Hein van Grouw

Taxonomic Notes :Monotypic species originally endemic to Bali and Java but introduced to western Borneo, Japan (?), the Lesser Sundas, Puerto Rica, Sumatra, Taiwan and the southern Thai-Malay Peninsula.
