| Remarks : | A good population of the Aegithina nigrolutea survives in Kutch. Best habitat for this species is Acacia leucophloea dominated scrub, Salvadora persica jungles and Pithecoelobium dulci (Manila Tamarind) dominated agricultural fields. It breeds in the Monsoon (June-September). Yhe display of the male jumping in air and calling its sweet musical song is seen in the months of June-September. Nest is a small cup which "seems to be too small for the bird of its size to raise its chicks", conveniently placed on the horizontal branch of Acacia trees, where both the parents take part in incubation and feeding the chicks. - JT |
